Phoenix, AZ (KPHO) – Phoenix police said two teenagers hurled three small puppies and their mother over a 6-foot fence into a dog park Monday night.
Witnesses told police the boys were in a tan Honda Civic or Accord going south on 21st Avenue just south of Glendale Avenue about 10 p.m., Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said.
They said they saw the teens throw the four dogs from the moving vehicle over the fence, Martos said, adding that they had to throw the dogs quite a distance from the street.
People at the park took the three puppies from the park, leaving the injured 2- to 3-year-old mother alone, Martos said.
Two homeless people befriended the injured dog and remained with her throughout the night.
The next day, they asked a citizen about the injured pet, and that person eventually called police.
