Funeral today for Oklahoma City police dog killed by chase suspect

OKLAHOMA CITY –  A funeral will be held Thursday for an Oklahoma City police dog, who died in the line of duty on Monday.

The funeral for Kye will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 28 at First Southern Baptist Church, located at 6400 S. Sooner Rd.

The services will be conducted with full police honors and it will be open to the public.

Police say Kye was killed in the line of duty after a high speed chase.

An Oklahoma City Police officer was also shot and killed as an armed suspect was trying to escape arrest.

Police chased the suspect, who has been identified as 22-year-old Mark Salazar, for 30 minutes before the shooting.

The pursuit sped through Moore, Norman and ended along I-35 near Goldsby.

After crashing his car, officers say Salazar tried to run on foot.
